Our core priorities
These five priorities set out the Council’s framework for improving Tiverton over the coming years. They focus on the areas where the Council can take action, influence change, and support the town’s development.

Priority 1: Vibrant town centre and local economy
A lively and attractive town centre is essential to a thriving community. The Council will support regular activity and events to increase footfall, attract visitors and build confidence in the town.

Everyday spaces such as parks, open areas and public facilities have a significant impact on quality of life. The Council will focus on improving these spaces so they are accessible, well-maintained and welcoming.

Tiverton Town Council is developing its first Strategic Plan to provide a clear direction for the future of the town and the work of the Council. At its heart, this plan is about moving from good ideas to real delivery.
Tiverton benefits from strong community spirit, committed councillors, and a shared desire to leave the town in a better condition than we found it. This plan provides the framework to bring together those ideas into a clear set of priorities, enabling the Council to act more strategically, consistently and effectively.
The Council does not act alone. Many of the outcomes we want to achieve will require partnership working with upper tier councils, local organisations, businesses, and community groups — and we are committed to strengthening engagement with residents, particularly young people and those who struggle to be heard.
